Terms of Use

Last updated 2026-06-27 · Effective 2026-06-27

These terms ("Terms") govern your use of the Easy Bill Splitter iOS app ("Easy Bill Splitter", "the app"). By downloading or using the app you accept these Terms.

What the app is

Easy Bill Splitter is an independent personal project that scans a receipt, lets you assign items to people, and calculates each person's share of the bill including a proportional split of tax and tip. The app is provided free of charge.

Estimates, not a financial service

Easy Bill Splitter is a convenience calculator provided for general informational purposes only. Amounts it shows are estimates based on the items, assignments, and tip you enter and on text read from a receipt, which may be misread or incomplete. Always review the figures yourself before relying on them or sending money. Nothing in the app is financial, accounting, tax, or legal advice.

Payments are handled by third parties

Easy Bill Splitter does not process payments, transfer money, or connect to your bank. When you choose to collect a share, the app may copy an amount to your clipboard and open a separate app such as Venmo, Zelle, your bank's app, or Messages. Any payment is made entirely within that third-party app and is subject to its terms; we are not a party to it and are not responsible for transactions, fees, errors, or amounts sent. Confirm the recipient and amount in that app before sending.

Optional accounts and cloud sync

Easy Bill Splitter is fully usable without an account. You may optionally sign in with Apple or Google to back up your past splits and sync them across your devices. You are responsible for keeping access to your sign-in provider secure, and you agree not to misuse the account or attempt to access other users' data. You can delete your account and the data stored for it at any time from within the app (Account → Delete account). How we handle account data is described in our Privacy Policy.

No warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose and the accuracy or reliability of any scan, calculation, or recommendation. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Easy Bill Splitter only for lawful, personal purposes, and not to reverse-engineer, resell, abuse, or misrepresent the app or its backend service. If you create an optional account, you agree not to misuse it, overload the service, or attempt to access data that is not yours.

Intellectual property

The app's code and design are © 2026 Andrey Lee Tsyplakov. Venmo and Zelle are trademarks of their respective owners; we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by them. Apple and the App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc.; we are not affiliated with Apple beyond participating in the Apple Developer Program.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, Easy Bill Splitter — including but not limited to any amount you send or fail to send, any miscalculation, lost profits, or lost data.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes shall be resolved before the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
